A plot to destroy the Jedi, The Clone Wars, the Mustafar duel and the Republic’s downfall are some of my favorite scenes in “Star Wars: Episode III- Revenge of the Sith.”
There are so many things right about about this film and it to this day remains one of my all-time favorite “Star Wars” films. I will share with you why.

To me, no other “Star Wars” film captures the emotion and conflict that the galaxy is facing at the time than this movie does.
I truly get a feel for what Anakin Skywalker is going through, his forbidden love with Padme and I feel the trials of the political atmosphere surrounding the republic during The Clone Wars.
What makes this film even better in my opinion is by watching “The Clone Wars.” That television series made me appreciate Anakin Skywalker, Padme and Obi-Wan even more than I already do and seeing how dark this film is makes me appreciate Anakin’s fall into the dark side of the force.

What I also enjoy seeing is just the dynamic of The Clone Wars ending as well. Seeing Obi-Wan and Anakin lead a mission to recapture the chancellor from General Grievous and Count Dooku while at the same time trying to end the war never gets old to me.
While at the same time seeing Chancellor Palpatine, otherwise known as Darth Sidious, manipulate Anakin is very interesting.
Seeing how Anakin was a slave to Watto and the Jedi Order, witnessing his mother die in his arms and seeing how he wanted to progress as a Jedi Knight to be a Jedi Master when the council denied him the right, it is only fair to see how he did turn into Darth Vader.
Darth Sidious used all of his energy to manipulate Anakin and use him for his powers for his own personal gain and the galaxy would never be the same.

In my opinion Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Hayden Christensen and Ian McDiarmid’s performances are amazing. Yes, there was a fair share of criticism from the prequels having bad acting and having “wooden” characters.
I would say to those critics that these are war movies, these characters are supposed to have numerous emotions going through their minds and debating on endless decisions that might have dire consequences.
Christensen’s performance still to this day is my favorite. Seeing him transcend and see the thoughts he has during this film never gets old.
John Williams’s score to this film is also amazing, it really adds to the dark tone that the film has. “Padme’s Ruminations,” “General Grievous” and “Anakin vs. Obi-Wan” are some of my favorite scores in the whole saga. I get goosebumps whenever I head the score in action.

Lastly, what makes this film memorable is the battle on Mustafar between Obi-Wan and Anakin Skywalker.
It is legendary and hands-down the best lightsaber fight in the whole saga. Accompanied by John Williams’s score it adds such an intensity to it.
When Darth Vader rises at the end of the film the galaxy is under a new regime, The Galactic Empire.
Watching the original trilogy films after “Revenge of the Sith” not only makes the franchise better but also unforgettable.
