Why Disney Needs to Release More 'Star Wars' movies

Since 2015, there have been four Star Wars movies released and let me just say, I love that. I would have never have seen it coming.

However, with the recent news that Disney is not going to put out Star Wars movies each year, I have to admit that I was shook. Why? Well I am so used to seeing Star Wars movies in the theatre and I just want to see more.

Before 2015, I used to watch the six movies on and off all the time. My first memory of going to see Star Wars was with my dad when I was little and he took me to go see Revenge of The Sith.

To this day, that is still my favorite Star Wars movie. I remember going to the theatre and seeing General Grievous on the screen and freaking out. At that point in time, that was the only in theatre experience I’ve had.

It was until The Force Awakens released that I saw that film with my friend and I was like holy smokes I cannot believe I am seeing a Star Wars movie in the theatre.

Then I saw Rogue One in the theatre with my dad and we were getting all excited for every twist and turn that movie had.

I saw The Last Jedi and was confused when I first saw it, but later on, grew to love that movie as one of my favorite Star Wars films.

Then I saw Solo with my friend and the adventure and the action was there and I fell in love with the characters. It was the first Star Wars film that I saw in the theatre more than once and I loved it since.

My point is that I love seeing Star Wars movies in the theatre. My friends and family get all excited about them and to me something I love about Star Wars is that the content never ends. It always grows and expands.

I think that is something that I love about Star Wars.

The content never ends.

When I finished binge watching the episodes I was always left wondering what's next? I felt like there were holes in the story that needed answering. So that’s when I started to watch The Clone Wars and Rebels television series I fell in love with those seasons because they expanded on the universe that I knew and loved so much.

Same thing with the novels and legends. I read many of those, played the video games and to me the magic of Star Wars does not end.

However, I can see why Disney wants to scale back on release dates.

Bob Iger, CEO of Disney said in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter that he thought he made a mistake with the timing of Solo.

“I made the timing decision, and as I look back, I think the mistake that I made — I take the blame — was a little too much, too fast. You can expect some slowdown, but that doesn't mean we're not going to make films. J.J. [Abrams] is busy making [Episode] IX. We have creative entities, including [Game of Thrones creators David] Benioff and [D.B.] Weiss, who are developing sagas of their own, which we haven't been specific about. And we are just at the point where we're going to start making decisions about what comes next after J.J.'s. But I think we're going to be a little bit more careful about volume and timing. And the buck stops here on that.”

I think that argument makes sense. With some fans not liking The Last Jedi and with the release of Solo only five months apart, I can see why Solo faltered at the box office.

However, let me just say that I think Disney is doing a great job. I love how the magic of Star Wars continues to be built upon and that magic will always be there.

It is only a matter of time before we see a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…. On the screen again.

Below are audience reactions to 'Star Wars' films. I hope you enjoy! Because this is how I felt in the theatre. Enjoy!
